Atlanta Falcons agree to terms with first-round pick Vic Beasley
The Atlanta Falcons and first-round draft pick Vic Beasley have agreed to terms on a four-year contract. Beasley intends to sign the deal on Saturday.
Financial terms were not immediately available.
Beasley, the eighth overall pick out of Clemson, was the last remaining unsigned rookie among the team's seven draft picks. General manager Thomas Dimitroff promised the signing of Beasley would occur swiftly when Dimitroff addressed the issue in front of season-ticket holders on Thursday night.
The language in the contract was the barrier holding up negotiations. The contracts are slotted under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, meaning Beasley will receive somewhere near $16 million guaranteed as part of his deal.
Wide receiver Kevin White, pick immediately ahead of Beasley at No. 7, received a four-year deal worth a fully guaranteed $16,563,047 that included a $10,305,852 signing bonus.
A fifth-year option is standard in the rookie deals.
Beasley is expected to inject life into the Falcons' pass rush.
