Prediction: Falcons will beat Vikings
By Vaughn McClure | ESPN.com
The Atlanta Falcons, coming off a 56-point outing in a win against Tampa Bay, now average a league-best 34.3 points per game. If they can find their rhythm on the road -- where they have lost three straight and eight of the past nine -- they should be able to keep up their high-scoring pace. The Minnesota Vikings, at 16.7 points per game and without running back Adrian Peterson, won’t be able to match the output.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who has not posted a passer rating of 100 or better on the road since Dec. 22 of 2012 (142.6 at Detroit), especially has to shake off his road woes. He should be able to do it with top threat Julio Jones back healthy and the offensive line much improved. The Vikings won’t have an answer for Jones, who currently leads the league with 365 receiving yards. Jones also has three touchdowns and should add to that total come Sunday. Devin Hester will be a mismatch nightmare for the Vikings' defense, particularly with receiver Roddy White back in the lineup off a hamstring injury.
Prediction: Falcons 28, Vikings 17
