Jets hire Todd Bowles as head coach
The New York Jets hired Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as their new head coach.
Bowles replaces Rex Ryan.
Bowles joins the Jets as they also hired Mike Maccagnan as general manager.
Bowles takes over a team that went 4-12 last season.
The Jets were also looking at Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, but he can't be hired until after their season is over. That could be as late as Feb. 1 at the Super Bowl.
Bowles had his second interview Tuesday.
The Jets cancelled a scheduled interview with Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.
The Jets also interivewed former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone, San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich, Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable and Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn.
