Raiders sign Jack Del Rio to four-year contract
The Oakland Raiders have hired Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio as their new head coach, signing him to a four-year contract.
Del Rio beat out interim coach Tony Sparano.
The Raiders also interviewed former New York Jets and Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, a former Raiders head coach.
Del Rio went 68-71 in nine seasons as the Jacksonville Jaguars coach.
Del Rio grew up near Oakland in Hayward, Calif.
