Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drew Davis, who started the season on the physically unable to perform list following foot surgery, is expected to resume practicing on Wednesday.
Falcons coach Mike Smith addressed Davis' status following Monday's practice.
"Drew is still working on the side today, but we do anticipate that we'll probably be starting his clock on Wednesday, barring anything unforeseen," Smith said. "He's supposed to see the doctor again today, but he's been doing some work on the side. And we anticipate that his clock will be starting on Wednesday."
According to NFL guidelines regarding players on the PUP list, players have a 21-day window upon returning to practice to be activated. Davis would be a solid addition to the receiver rotation plus provide help on special teams.
Last season, Davis started three games and caught 12 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. He is in his third NFL season.
The other Falcon currently on the PUP list, safety Zeke Motta, is not expected to play this season coming off neck surgery.
