Umenyiora on CBS: ‘The team fell apart’ FLOWERY BRANCH – Here’s a video of CBS’ segment title “What’s happening in Atlanta?”Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora gave his thoughts on the Falcons’ 2-6 record. Also, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora wrote a post speculating that owner Arthur Blank is expected to go after a “A list” coach and that Mike Smith is not expected to be back next season. Umenyiora didn’t blame Smith for the team’s problems. “We’ve done a poor job as players,” Umenyiora said. He later added that, “It’s mostly on the players to perform.” He was asked if he felt the Falcons were soft when he signed with the team. He said he didn’t get that sense and that the Falcons were a “fantastic team” that was coming of the NFC championship game when he signed in 2013. He pointed to injuries last season that have led to the team’s downfall. “The team fell apart and we have not been able to rebound since,” Umenyiora said.
