Tony Romo: It felt like a road game because of Texans fans

When a home team is blowing a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, the sounds from the home crowd are usually boos if there is anything other than stunned silence from the fans.
During Sunday’s Cowboys-Texans game, though, there were loud cheers for the Texans as they made their way back from a 17-7 deficit to force overtime. Those fans were unhappy about the final result, a 20-17 Cowboys win, but they made their presence felt.
After the game, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said the team used a silent snap count throughout the contest because of how loud the Houston fans were. He said it felt like “we played on the road” and that he hopes to see more Cowboys fans the next time out.
“I was a little bit surprised by the number of Houston fans,” Romo said, via the Houston Chronicle. “We need to do a better job as a team, as a fanbase, to make sure how big of a difference playing at home is. I think going forward, I am going to push that issue.”
It’s not the first time this has happened at a Cowboys home game and it won’t be the last as long as fans find that the secondary market can turn a ticket into a profit that helps pay for the rest of the season.
