Saints place Jairus Byrd on injured reserve with knee injury
Safety tore meniscus
The New Orleans Saints have shut down safety Jairus Byrd for the season.
Byrd tore his meniscus in practice and will be placed on injured reserve.
Saints coach Sean Payton made the announcement today.
It's a significant blow for the Saints defense after signing Byrd to a six-year, $54 million contract this offseason.

i am glad to see the Aints play this bad so far, and the injury to Byrd will make it that much harder for them to turn it around. Now if we can only figure out how to play the same on the road as we do at home, we could expand our lead over them fairly easy in the next few weeks
