Falcons' Devonta Freeman named NFC's Offensive Player of the Month
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, the NFL's leading rusher with 621 yards, was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month for October.
Freeman posted three consecutive 100-yard rushing games in the month, a streak he'll carry into Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also scored six of his league-leading 10 touchdowns in October, including five rushing scores.
Freeman joins Jamal Anderson (1998) as the only Falcons running backs to win the monthly award. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones won the honor last month.
Freeman, who didn't start the first two games of the season in favor of rookie Tevin Coleman, also leads the NFL with 931 combined rushing and receiving yards through seven games.
