Julio Jones returns to practice, listed as probable
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who missed the past two days of practice with hamstring soreness, returned to practice Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Jones did full work Friday and is "ready to rock."
Jones experienced soreness during the second half of Monday night's 26-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Quinn downplayed the significance of the injury and assured that Jones would play against the Giants.
Friday's practice served to confirm the coach's words.
Jones ran routes without much issue. He seemed to have no trouble elevating to catch the ball. And he showed no favoritism toward his right hamstring, which appeared to be the one he banged up.
"I thought he looked right back to normal," Quinn said. "You just feel the explosiveness when he's playing and in and out of breaks. So it was great to have him back out here. He's done the walk-throughs, so he's part of it. But today, to see him doing the full-speed stuff was huge."
The NFC offensive player of the week expressed no doubt about playing against the Giants.
"By me being able to go back out there [against the Eagles], it was nothing serious," Jones said. "I'm going to be ready to go."
Jones caught nine passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the opener.
Meanwhile, the Falcons will be without return specialist Devin Hester for the second consecutive week as he continues to deal with turf toe on his right foot. Hester did not practice all week.
"I think he's such an explosive guy, [so] let's make sure he's back to doing what we can do," Quinn said of Hester. "For Devin, that's all the unique stuff he can do in the return game and playing on offense. When he can feel that explosion that he has without the pain, then we'll know we're ready. I'm not going to jeopardize where it could be longer in the injury just to have him back out there. He's such a valuable guy for us, so I want to make sure he's at his best too."
Outside linebacker Brooks Reed (groin) and defensive end Malliciah Goodman (triceps) also were ruled out.
Strong safety William Moore (illness), left tackle Jake Matthews (back), outside linebacker O'Brien Schofield (hip) and defensive end Adrian Clayborn (thumb) are listed as probable for the Falcons.
