Bucs promote Mike Kafka to active roster
Josh McCown could be out this week. By Jason Butt
It looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are preparing as if Josh McCown will not be able to play this Sunday.
McCown sprained his thumb last Thursday against the Falcons and is expected to miss some time. However, publicly, McCown and the Bucs are taking the optimistic approach.
To cover themselves for the likelihood McCown isn't available this week, the Buccaneers have promoted quarterback Mike Kafka to the 53-man roster, according to The Tampa Bay Times. To make room, the Bucs released guard Rishaw Johnson.
All signs point to Mike Glennon getting the start with Kafka backing him up.
