Since there is a camp out there that seems to think musicians deploying the pentatonic scale in the practice of their craft is somehow a detraction...I thought we could have a thread offering solid rebuttals to that way of thinking.
I was just watching this and thought Walsh's use of the scale in the solo of this song was magnificent. (Walsh is definitely a less is more type guitar player).

Blues scale, but it's basically the same thing:

Also not strictly pentatonic (at least not strictly major pentatonic), but very much pentatonic based. Duane basically just throws the 4th in there a few times to color the tonality of the solo.

First solo has some Dorian mixed in, but it's mostly a mix of Major and Minor pentatonic.

Sticking with the previous band, let me say that Marc Ford's playing on this song is some of the tastiest pentatonic work I've ever heard:

Though I remain a huge Black Crowes Fan (mainly because I think Rich Robinson is one criminally overlooked and vastly underrated guitarist/song writers), I don't think they are the same band when Marc Ford isn't playing guitar with them. They aren't. Freak and Roll: Into the Fog is that band at its peak. I did enjoy the Luther Dickenson era, though. They still can't light a candle to what they did with Marc Ford. Damn him and his blasted sobriety!

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Robinson's are not easy to work with.

People who hate on pentatonics should be required to post a video of themselves playing this before they're allowed any negative speak.

Not only is that brilliant guitar chops, but those lyrics are 100 percent true.
