Jay Gruden doesn't rule out Kirk Cousins becoming starter
'Crazier things have happened,' Gruden said. By Jason Butt
It's too early to assume that Kirk Cousins will be the future starter of Jay Gruden's offense in Washington.
But the notion isn't something the first-year head coach is willing to rule out at this time. When asked if Cousins could become the starter for Robert Griffin III, who is currently sidelined with a dislocated ankle, Gruden's answer was somewhat vague.
"Crazy things have happened in NFL," Gruden said in a conference call with the New York media, via the New York Daily News. "I'm not going to discount anything."
Rumors have been rampant in Washington that Gruden has believed that Cousins is more of a fit for his offensive system than Griffin, though that's something the Washington coach will never publicly acknowledge. But it definitely can be argued that Cousins has gotten off to a better start than Griffin.
In two games, Cousins has 677 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Griffin began the year with 305 yards and zero touchdowns before severely injuring his ankle in Week 2 against Jacksonville.
Depending on how Cousins fares over the next few weeks will decide whether a quarterback change is made in the nation's capital.

RGIII is turning out to be a colossal bust. Just ignoring the injuries he is not developing as a passer and it's badly affecting the offense when he is in. It'd be a painful admission since they gave up so much to get him but if I were them I'd move on after this season. He's being completely outplayed by someone who was drafted to be his backup.
