LAWD sakes! I just tried a new way to cook the burgers, and it is really good. So I usually cook them with the dogs, raised direct, at about 400-450 or so. Too hot and I burn the dogs and they split open (I like them black, but intact). Too cool and the burgers take forever. So this time I cooked the dogs first, raised direct, over about 350 or so flipping them regularly. They were really good. Then I cranked the grill up to 500, dropped the grate down onto the fire ring, and seared the burgers 3 min. a side, then flipped them again and shut the grill down. After about a 5-7 min. dwell, I added cheese and when it melted I pulled them. Best burger I've had in quite a long time.

Only burgers and dogs really since Lent, but we're going to do a pork shoulder for Labor Day. Pics to come.

Y'all are sorry lately. I'm keeping this thread alive like an EMT. New Smokeware cap for the Egg. I got tired of trying to keep a fire lit in the rain.
