Yea, I figured I'd branch out. Broaden my horizons so to speak.

If you like it, more power to you. I just didn't know if you knew about restringing them and some of the other issues with them.

They had the new 2015 SG Special in there too. I played it and liked it, but it was pushing a grand. Now starting to think maybe I should have splurged...
Having GAS is frustrating...

I'm a fickle, indecisive bastard. I just took the PRS back and switched it for a 2015 Gibson SG Special. This thing has a robo tuner on it. Pretty cool you turn the tuner on, strum all the string and it tunes itself.
This one sounds and feels much better than the SGJ too. Maybe I finally have a keeper.

HA HA HA. I will say one thing. I wans't really a fan of Guitar Center. Rightly or wrongly considered it kind of like the Walmart of guitar shops. But they've made a customer for life now. I told the guy if it keeps going like this by next week I'll be back in here giving him 5,000 more dollars and exchanging this for a LP Custom Shop Rig. They appear to stand by their 30 day guarantee. If you decide you don't like for any reason you can bring it back. I guess it may have been different if I was looking for a refund instead of upgrading every time.

Yeah I took a pedal back there, no questions asked, in law school.

Protip: cut the wire ends off your strings and string them backwards (ball ends through the tuners). In a pinch, it makes things a lot easier. You can just cut them to length. Did I mention that before I was a roots rock hipster, I was an 80's headbanger?

I have yet to regret a guitar purchase, but I have bought a few (the DGT and the Les Paul come to mind) that could have been big time regrets. I bought the DGT on a whim -- it's the guitar I used to test out my new, custom ordered Deluxe Reverb clone. And I bought the Les Paul off TGP, sight unseen. Both are phenomenal guitars, but the other 3 I took a lot more time deciding on. Either of those could have been a huge miss. When I bought the Les Paul, I planned to play it for a while and sell either it or the DGT, whichever I liked the least. I ended up being able to keep both and I'm glad I did. I'd hate to have to sell that PRS. It's such a fantastic guitar. The Tele I bought after they sold a 1978 Les Paul AND a 1988 SG before I could cobble the funds together to get either one. The SG was a great guitar -- I hate I missed out on it. I spent a lot of time with that Tele before I pulled the trigger on it because I really wanted a Gibson. It's served me very well ever since. My Taylor 816ce was an odd one. I wanted a Martin or a Gibson, but every time I played something else, I kept coming back to that Taylor. The tone, playability, electronics -- it was the total package. I don't play it a lot, but I'm confident I made the right choice at the time. Someday I'll sell it to fund a Gibson J-185ec, but for now, it's my only acoustic, and it is a great one. The Strat was one I saw hanging on the wall after a music lesson and played it for about an hour that day. Then I played it again the next week. Finally, I put some money down to hold it until I could buy it. It's the best Strat I've ever put my hands on. No regrets there.

So far the 2015 SG seems to be a keeper. I always found those robo tuner devices suspect, but this one appears to work very very good. I haven't experimented with any of the alternate tunings yet, but the standard tuning seems to tune the guitar quickly and accurately. Kind of cool to watch the tuner pegs all move on their own as it does its thing.
May switch these 61 pickups with the 57 classics at some point.

Gonna need you to sell me that Taylor, brah. Save your money and let me scout out the J-185ec, and it's yours. I'll even hand deliver it.

One day I still need to send my Taylor 810 back to the factory to get the binding and bridge repaired. And I need to get it set up for 12's, not those wimpy 10's dad kept on it.
